About The Manor Club

THE HISTORY OF THE MANOR CLUB

The Manor Club has been a cultural institution in Pelham for more than 125 years.  Originally The Manor Club was a men’s social club.  It was founded in 1882 and was incorporated the following year.

The “Tuesday Afternoon Club”, a women’s group started in 1900 to discuss and study literature, art and drama, evolved into The Manor Club in 1914.  At that time, The Directors of the Manor Club, all men, ran into financial difficulties and asked the women of The Tuesday Afternoon Club to take over the running of The Manor Club.  The women did so and, in 1922, replaced the smaller “Manor House” with the present Manor Club building that opened on the Esplanade.

Today, we are a community of more than 250+ members from Pelham and its neighboring towns, looking to connect, enrich and give back to the community and our neighbors in supporting our mission. The Manor Club offers a variety of cultural opportunities for every interest: from talks by speakers of the NY City Council of the Arts to musical talents from a cappella groups to philharmonic ensemble in the Theater.

We plan Broadway trips and take on Carnegie Hall. Our supporters enjoy docent led tours of nationally recognized Gardens. We are host to author readings and book signings. We offer bridge lessons and mah-jongg, yoga and breathing classes. We host art exhibits from artists near and far for enjoyment and purchase.

These programs are open to the public.

The clubhouse is open from September through May with weekly and evening programs throughout the year.
